Northern California -
This is most well known region in the state and has been producing grapes and wines since 1883. It has even been given the name wine country. The wineries that make up this group are above San Francisco and number greater than 200. Some of the areas include: Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, Alexander Valley and the Russian River Valley. The communities within these regions include: Santa Rosa, Geyserville, Bodega Bay, Calistoga, Healdsburg, Sonoma, Kenwood, Ukiah and Napa. Being the premier wine producing area in California it also holds a premier price to get into a winery or vineyard. Napa Valley real estate to many is untouchable not only because of the price but also the fact that most quality wineries never even get listed. These properties get scooped up by the well connected. Central California - This broad term is applied to the area between San Francisco and Los Angeles. This area contains some of the most up and coming wineries of today. The areas include: Carmel Valley, Mount Harlan, Santa Clara Valley, Santa Cruz Mountains, Monterey County, Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County. The real estate in this region is probably the most affordable but has seen sharp increases along with the rest of the state. Paso Robles is probably one of the most affordable locations presently to purchase real estate. Southern California - Although lacking some of the history of being a wine producing region. Southern California is starting to become a producer of some very fine wines. The communities include: San Diego, Temecula, Escondito, Malibu, and Landcaster.
